The Ministry of Interior, almost 24 hours after last night’s brutal police attack on the protesters, issued an official statement which said that "on the night between February 2nd and 3rd, from 9:30 to 1:00 a.m., police were deployed to prevent a traffic jam on Belgrade’s Brankova Bridge and a possible violation of public order. Because public order and peace were violated, police arrested 18 persons who are right now in the process of being investigated for how deeply they violated they law. Police are taking all measures according to the law."

That’s the only official reaction or explanation from the government for last night’s events.
