Student Protest '96 - '97

The Plato

The students of the Belgrade University gathered for the 86th time to protest against the manipulations on the November 17 elections. The guest speakers for today were Slobodan Sijan, movie director and Olja Ivanjicki artist. Sijan reminded the students of their role in the democratization of the country and asked of them not to stop the anti-regime protests. Ana Andjelkovic, a high school student from Vranje addressed the students, informing them of the fact that the students of Vranje have been protesting for the past nine days, supporting the students in Belgrade. After the service information was read, Cedomir Jovanovic informed the students of the fact that the fight is not yet over.

The "Walk"

The second evening walk took the students by the most influential government controlled media: RTS, Radio Belgrade and Politika. About 10,000 students walked to Slavija and back through Ivo Lola Ribar, where they were greeted by Grandma Olga among others. The students returned to the Plato where the protest gathering for the day ended.
