TO THE CHANCELLOR OF THE BELGRADE UNIVERSITY

Dear Mr. Chancellor,

Scientific Council of the Institute for Physics, which is constituted holders of doctorates and higher scientific titles employed in the Institute, stated its position considering the ongoing situation at the University, at the irregular session held on December 10, 1996:

1. The Scientific Council of the Institute for Physics supports the peaceful protests of the students provoked by the annulling of the electoral results for the municipal and city authorities.

2. The Scientific Council of the Institute for Physics joins the demands of the Schools of the Belgrade University for the summoning of an irregular session of the Teaching Council of the University, at which the present situation at the University.

3. The Scientific Council of the Institute for Physics condemns Your public appearances and positions concerning the present happenings at the University.

The session was attended by 35 (thirty-five) members of the Scientific Staff. The above mentioned positions were accepted by 31 (thirty-one) vote, 3 (three) were against and 1 (one) was reserved.
