JOHN CORNBLUM ON RADOVAN KARADZIC'S STATEMENT

U.S. Will Not Accept Any Conditions

Sarajevo, FoNet. - American mediator for ex-Yugoslavia, John Cornblum stated yesterday that the United States will not allow Bosnian Serb president Radovan Karadzic to dictate the terms of his resignation. After meeting Bosnian president Alija Izetbegovic, Cornblum told AFP that the US has not been notified of any conditions, nor will concede to Karadzic's terms. "Mr. Karadzic is in no position to impose any conditions. Quite the opposite. He must soon conform to the pressure of the international community..., quit his position and go to the Hague," said Cornblum. "It is most important now for him to leave from power, so that he cannot undermine the peace process as he had been doing so far," American diplomat stated.

John Cornblum said he was satisfied with the three-hour meeting with Slobodan Milosevic yesterday, and remarked that "things in Bosnia are headed the right way." "At this time, no predictions can be made of the final outcome," Cornblum added.
