Dragi sugradjani i zemljaci,

Pisemo vam da vas obavestimo da je medijska blokada u S.A.D.
probijena! Vasa upornost u odbrani slobode, postenja i volje srpskog
naroda ima sve vise i vise odjeka. Sva vaznija glasila (novine The
New York Times i Washington Post, nacionalne i lokalne televizijske
stanice : PBS. CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, itd.) vec tri dana donose vesti iz
Srbije. U NY Times-u ste na naslovnoj strani oba poslednja dana.
Pojavluju se i komentari politicki uticajnih komentatora, koji
osudjuju brutalnu kradju glasova i diktatorsko ponasanje Milosevicevog
rezima.

Mongi od nas su stupili u kontakt sa svojim senatorima i
kongresmenima, zahtevajuci da se podrzi demokratski pokret u Srbiji i
da se spreci samovoljno divljanje vladajuce partije. Belu kucu i
predsednika Klintona zovemo na dnevnoj bazi i ostavljamo poruke o
vasem protestu i gnevu, i o neophodnosti postovanja vasih glasova i
volje. U prilogu vam saljemo jedno ovakvo pismo, poslato na adrese
njujorskih senatora, vodja obe partije u senatu, svim clanovima
Spoljnopolitickog odbora senata, i nekim vidjenijim senatorima. Za
manje od 24 casa vec je stiglo sest odgovora na ovo pismo.
Nastavicemo sa pisanjem, barem koliko i vi sa protestima.

Sa vama smo u mislima i srcu. Izdrzite, buducnost Srbije je u
vasim rukama.

Zauvek vasi sugradjani iz Njujorka i Kalifornije,

Honorable gentlewomen and gentlemen,

Please help defeat the last communist dictator in Europe !

Serbia is currently undergoing its first significant test of
democracy in over 50 years. At the local elections last week,
democratic opposition had handily won in the majority of large towns,
including the capital, Belgrade. Milosevic and his ruling Socialist
party thus suffered its first loss, and the first defeat of communism
in this country since WWII.

Of course, being communists, Milosevic's cronies begun an immediate
campaign to reverse the loss by massive cheating, ballot box-stuffing,
intimidation, open forgery and rigging, and, finally, vote
nullification by communist-controlled courts. In Belgrade, the
opposition coalition Zajedno (Together) won 70 out of 110 seats, with
Milosevic's SPS winning only 26 seats. A week later, communist courts
have nullified 45 of the 70 opposition seats. In the second-largest
town, Nis, electoral commission had not only nullified the opposition
gains, but had actually awarded some of those seats to Milosevic's
SPS. Such examples of criminal activities are countless.

This has been met with over a week of massive protests, strikes and
civilian disobedience. As of now, tens of thousands of people are in
the streets of Serbia. I appeal to you to strongly support this
democratic outburst, and to influence the administration to apply its
strongest pressure on Milosevic to reverse his criminal actions.
Don't let another Tienanmen happen! Only democratic Serbia can
guarantee the peace and stability in the Balkans. Its people have
spoken, please help this voice be heard and honored, in the name of
basic human rights, freedom and dignity !

Sincerely Yours,
