ulice. Ima dosta zrtava. Petoro je odmah nadjeno, ali izvlace jos.
Bar deset kuca je potpuno unisteno. Oni koji su bili unutra tesko da
su preziveli.

Licno me je najvise pogodila tragedija u br. 60, ul. Dusana Trivunca.
Tamo sam odrastao - tu su me cuvali deda Jovan i nana Sofija dok
jos nisam posao u skolu. Poginuli su nocas. Malopre su ih izvukli.
Igrali su karte na stolu u dnevnoj sobi. Jos uvek su ih drzali u ruci.
Strasno.

Evo mog pisma koje sam jutros poslao lokalnom poslaniku

I have just received horrible news from my parents that NATO bombs hit my
hometown, Aleksinac. Two residential streets in the town centre were flattened,
and there were lots of civilian casualties, among them some of my very close
friends. I have just seen the pictures on BBC and recognized the house where I
partially grew up (60 D. Trivunac Street). It took direct hit, and its
residents, the people who used to look after me in my pre-school days were all
killed. I am shocked. I cannot believe it. I am crying like a child. I phoned
their granddaughter and she was completely devastated. My parents were also
distressed - they were on the scene all night trying to help the rescue. At
least their house suffered only minor damages.

Aleksinac is peaceful provincial town of 15,000 population. The town centre,
which was subject to the latest air raids, is completely military-free. The
nearest military barracks are on the edge of the town, 2 miles from the city
centre, and they are completely empty at the moment.

Why the town of Aleksinac was so ruthlessly destroyed? Why? Will anybody be
indicted for this war crime? Or these innocent people will be counted as 'just
collateral damage'?
