Students' Protest Banner

On 17th November 1996 municipal elections have been held in Serbia. Despite of the total media control by the ruling party, the citizens of Belgrade and most other major cities chose to be lead by the new leaders.

Dissatisfied with those results, the regime of the president Slobodan Milosevic annulled the elections thus causing massive protests of the citizens. A few days after that the students decided to join the protests.

The basic democratic principles respected world-wide have been violated, and we demand their immediate restoration. We, also, demand the resignation of the chancellor and student vice-chancellor who have been ignoring our protest and called us "fascists".

Our protest is entirely peaceful. Every day we organize rallies on which the professors, actors, artists, musicians and other public figures address us.
